Number of electric cars is strongly growing in Finland

According to Finnish Transport Safety Agency Trafic's statistics the number of electric vehicles has increased by 41% in Finland compared to previous year.

According to Finnish Transport Safety Agency Trafi's statistics the number of electric vehicles has increased by 41% in Finland compared to previous year. At the beginning of 2016 there were 614 fully electric passenger cars in Finland which is 254 cars or 41% more than a year ago. Most popular models in Finland are Nissan Leaf and Tesla Model S. Number of fully electric vans has increased by 29% and was 124 vehicles at the beginning of 2016. Most popular model in this category in Finland is Nissan. 61% of the electric passenger cars are located in the capital area of Finland. In Tampere region there are total 48 e-cars of which 29 are registered in the region’s biggest city Tampere. Similar situation is in the region of Southwest Finland where is total 56 e-cars of which 30 are located in region’s capital city Turku.

At the end of March 2016 there is 697 electric passenger cars in Finland thus the amount of e-vehicles is steadily growing. In total there are over 2,6 million passenger cars in Finland.
